The Association of Psychotherapists and Counsellors (Singapore) launched the APACS Professional College of Supervisors on 3rd June 2016 in the American Counselling Association – Asia Pacific Counselling Conference 2016 in Singapore Suntec City.

APACS was registered as an association by the Singapore Registrar of Society in 2012. Our members undergo mandatory supervision by qualified and experienced supervisors certified and accredited by APACS during their career. The on-going process is to ensure their professionalism in discharging their services and maintenance of their own personal emotional and mental health and growth. Supervision ultimately serves as gatekeepers of the counselling and psychotherapy industry.

The trusts to form the APACS Professional College of Supervisors which is a fraternity of all APACS members who have formally undergone an APACS approved supervision training course and registered as supervisors had been originally mooted by Philip Armstrong, PhD CEO of the Australian Counselling Association in early 2016.

The college adopts the following:

1. To keep a register of all those who have acquired the skills and training of Professional Counselling Supervision.

2. To offer platform for the members to occasional meet and to discuss the latest research and findings in the area of Professional Counselling Supervision

3. To ensure the members of the college discharge their services in the highest ethical and behavioural standards and conduct.

4. To implement and introduce new ideas, researches and findings that can upgrade the delivery skills of members of the college.

5. To disseminate knowledge and facilitate learning in this area to members of the general public so that they can understand the seriousness and meaning of those providing health care services to undergo and obtain supervision in their own field of expertise.
