History and Evolution of Counselling (Event)

Sim Kwang Mong – practising counsellor proficient in counselling intervention using Satir, CBT, SFBT and Mindfulness orientations. He is an experienced marriage counsellor, who has been providing counselling support to adult couples and individual undergoing marital challenges and issues since 2010. Kwang Mong has many years of experiences working with adolescents in providing counselling support pertaining to social, emotional and behavioural issues in their formative years as they transit to adulthood.

This workshop is designed to share knowledge on the evolution of counselling and how it has developed into a specialised professional. The workshop provides a glimpse of challenges along with its evolution and convergent of various theoretical approaches into the field of counselling practices. Participants will gain broader perspectives on the history of counselling and appreciation of the field of counselling. Participants will be able to better understand the challenges facing the field of counselling hitherto as a skilled professional and future challenges it is continual evolution.
