Membership Categories and Practitioner Levels
Non-Practicing Members
Student Member
Non-Practicing
Currently enrolled in any higher learning studies in counselling and/or psychotherapy and/or psychology. Must be at least sixteen years of age at time of application.
Has voting rights and can hold any elective office.
Associate Member
Non-Practicing
Has some affiliation with the counselling and/or psychotherapy profession, either via studies or work.
Has no voting rights and cannot hold any elective office.
Ordinary Member
Non-Practicing
Has some documentary evidence of training and experience within the helping profession but do not meet the qualifying criteria for professional membership
Has voting rights and can hold any elective office.
Fellow Member
Non-Practicing
One who provides exemplary service and is outstanding in his field.
Has voting rights and can hold any elective office.
Corporate Member
Non-Practicing
Given to an organization, corporation or any business and nonprofit entity that wishes to affiliate itself with the Association.
Not given to an individual
Life Member
Non-Practicing
Ordinary member who chooses to make a one-time lump sum payment of his annual dues.

Practicing Members – Certified Practitioner
Certified Practitioner
Level 1
Requirements:
Recognized related degree/postgraduate degree
+ 150 supervised* counselling hours
Certified Practitioner
Level 2
Requirements:
Recognized related degree/postgraduate degree
+ 300 supervised* counselling hours
Practicing Members – Certified Master Practitioner
Certified Master Practitioner
Level 3
Requirements:
Recognized related Master degree
+ 300 supervised* counselling hours
Certified Master Practitioner
Level 4
Requirements:
Recognized related Master degree
+ 400 supervised* counselling hours
Practicing Members – Master Practitioner / Supervisor
Certified Master Practitioner / Supervisor
Non-Practicing
Requirements:
Recognized relevant Masters degree
+ 500 supervised* counselling hours
Supervisor Certification from Approved Institutions
* Must be an approved Supervisor from APACS/SAC and/or SPS.
